They say that when you are so immersed in something that you truly love, you forget to eat. You sit on the very edge of your seat when listening and learning. You don't look at the clock and your mind doesn't wander even in the slightest bit. After a couple last "this is so weird" comments, I found myself getting used to the idea that this is my new life (and I'm loving every minute of it). After a case of some initial nerves and jitters, I was enjoying myself so much that I was shocked and stunned when class was over. Where did the time go? Didn't I just get here?
And now, with my first day behind me, I'm laying on my couch limp, like a piece of over-cooked spaghetti, exhausted from learning and from running around the school's big Cambridge kitchen. (It's amazing how tiring it can be when you have so much more ground to cover!) Today, I found myself having a lot of ah-ha moments as well as seeing that there is just so much to learn and remember. I also realized lots of things that I had been doing wrong. Well, not wrong, I mean the food still tasted good but there are much better ways of doing things that make food look and taste even better. I'm so excited to apply my new knowledge to my Small Boston Kitchen adventures!
I promise a more thorough recap later on in the week but for right now, I'm going to pass out from delirious excitement and then read up on fruits and spices for tomorrow's class before I move onto reading for tomorrow night's seminar on knife skills. (If you're anything like me, feel free to insert an enthusiastic samurai yell after saying the words "knife skills seminar". I know I do and I highly recommend it.)
As a quick side note, thank you so much to all the comments, texts, tweets, emails and "likes" on facebook today. Change is a little scary and but all the support that I've received has made this an easy and exciting transition. I appreciate every last word, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

Sounds like an awesome first day! You will definitely be exhausted the whole time... and then your body will just go into autopilot. And yes, people had to remind me to eat something when I was working at Flour. It's true... you get super-immersed. Have so much fun! Can't wait to hear more about everything you are learning.
