Patriot's Day/Marathon Monday Eve

Patriot's Day is nothing short of pure awesomeness.  It's a state holiday geared towards celebrating all things Massachusetts.  The Sox play an afternoon home game, the Marathon takes place and the city pretty much shuts down.  It's a big deal.  People literally come from all over the world (baring they fix that volcano problem in Iceland) to celebrate.  There is a certain electricity pumping through the streets of Boston and it's hard not to feel it and get excited about it.

Today is a big day for me as it is the eve of my 3rd annual Boston Marathon party.  Being one of the oh so fortunate ones that lives right along the 26.2 mile trail, I have invited some friends over to the Small Boston Kitchen for brunch before we set up our folding chairs along Beacon Street to watch the runners go by.  Today is my big prep day and I'm as happy as a clam harvested off the coast of Massachusetts.  My menu for the big day is as follows:

  • Cheddar Scrambled Eggs With Fresh Chives
  • Brown Sugar Bacon
  • Home-fried Potatoes
  • Fresh Fruit
  • Homemade Blueberry and Raspberry Pop-tarts
  • Mimosa
As you can see from the pictures of my apartment, I've started to transform my little living space into the setting of a fantastic party.  Be sure to check back to see more pictures and to get the recipes!

Happy Patriot's Day, Good Luck Runners and GO SOX!

Um, I don't think I could be more excited for tomorrow if I were running the race myself.....
