Memorial Day Weekend Giveaway!

We're on the brink of Summer 2011 and I can't wait for the air to be filled with the smoky haze from the grill, corn on the cob flowing aplenty and don't even get me started on how excited I am for some fresh, ripe tomatoes. *Sigh*. I love the summer for all its fresh ingredients and am psyched to be putting away my heavy braising pans and soup pots in exchanging for colanders to wash fresh summer-ripe berries in and chilled plates full of fresh salads. Summer 2011, bring it on. I'm sooo ready for you.

With the anticipation of fresh summery produce, I've started compiling a list of things that I want to make sure I do in the kitchen this summer. For starters, I want to make some jams to stash away for those chilly months and I also want to experiment with new produce, leaving no local fruit and vegetable un-tried. I also want to try new local restaurants that I haven't been too yet, it seems every time I turn around there's something else to discover or something new popping up.

In light of what will undoubtedly be a delicious summer, I'd like to give away $10 vouchers to 3 lucky readers, good to use for any delivery order at allmenus.com and courtesy of my friends at Signpost, the social networking site for bargain hunters. To enter, all you have to do is leave me a comment telling me what item you are most looking forward to making or eating this summer. Or what restaurant you're just dying to go to. The winners will be randomly selected and announced on Tuesday morning (5/31). If you'd like to increase your chances of winning, tweet "Check out The_SBK Memorial Day Giveaway!"

Have a happy, safe and delicious weekend!

Definitely the in-season WATERMELON - it's not even comparable during the winter. Summer is where it is at!

P.S. And I tweeted

I can't wait for fresh fruit that actually tastes good; strawberries, peaches and nectarines especially.
